Bush on Bird Flu

Even though this might be another attempt of Bush's to save his approval ratings, more attention on the matter, especially from the top level governments, is desparately needed.

Resistance to Tamiflu

myDNA.com - News: Bird flu drug: Useless?: "Bird flu drug: Useless?"

"There are now resistant H5N1 strains appearing, and we can't totally rely on one drug (Tamiflu)," said William Chui, honorary associate professor with the department of pharmacology at the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong. The Tamiflu-resistant strain of H5N1 has been documented in Vietnam, and Chui also reported that a general viral resistance to Tamiflu is growing in Japan, where the medication is often prescribed to fight the common strain of influenza.

CORDIS: Bird flu pandemic fear grows as virus becomes resistant to Tamiflu

A small Japanese independent study published last August already suggested that influenza viruses were becoming resistant to Tamiflu, and that the resistance may be more common than thought. In this study, 18 per cent of the child patients had Tamiflu-resistant influenza, said lead researcher Yoshihiro Kawaoka, a professor of virology, microbiology, and immunology at the University of Tokyo.

How to Prepare

Article: How to Protect Your Family Against the Coming Pandemic - by John Hart

1. Buy a supply of oseltamivir, the only antiviral available that seems to reduce the impact of the virus. It doesn't kill it, but it does give your body time to build immunity.

2. Buy the only filter mask that will block H5N1 and kill it dead -- no that mask is not the N95 series. You'd be wasting your money on a N95. Nanomask is the one I strongly recommend.

3. Buy a supply of immunolin, the only blood protein on the market that will strengthen your immune system against horrific challenges like H5N1.
